“You will have a policy, … and thus you will prevent war”
By Glenn R. Jackson
The reports of history’s end have been greatly exaggerated, and just when we thought we could get along without it. President Bush just this week has demonstrated how much he needs to understand human history. The President announced that Chairman Arafat is “not a terrorist”, because Arafat has “worked for peace.” I assume this means the Nobel Peace prize trumps good sense.
As Churchill records in his memoirs “Chamberlain produced a draft declaration which he had prepared…Hitler read his note and signed it without demur.” Of course we know the rest of Chamberlain’s history. After working to secure peace with Hitler he returns to England where “from the windows of Downing Street he waved his piece of paper again and used these words ‘This is the second time in our history that…I believe that it is peace in our times’.” Peacemakers are not always good company, and seeking “peace” is not always a sign of good intentions.
As the storm clouds gather the President is showing a failure of resolve and a lack of appreciation for the consequences to come from his simplistic view of this “clash of civilizations.” If the President’s statement toward Arafat is any indicator, President Bush and his advisors are badly misreading the situation and will compound earlier mistakes in this Terror War.
First and foremost the President must understand common psychology. A fairly small percentage (say 10%) of people who are predisposed toward a particular belief will ignore any fact contradictory to that held belief, and will do anything to further their beliefs regardless of those contradictions. You would think after the Florida election debacle that the President would understand this.
The greater majority just wants to be left alone to feed, clothe, and otherwise raise their families. The operative philosophy for this group is “go along to get along.”
Human psychology being what it is one group always follows the leader, while the other always follows its leader. If that leader happens to coincide for both groups then you have a recipe that only needs a pinch of bad or evil leadership to flavor the whole mixture with evil. This is the Middle East today.
While it may be true that many Muslims wish only for peace, the psychology of the situation has placed that wish and their commitment to it very much in doubt. The secret is that the strongest side will prevail in the hearts of the “followers”, and with the refocusing of the Terror War on Israel and Palestine the President has walked full into the sucker punch. Evil is ascendant, and the President has allowed an end-run that would make Sun-Tzu proud, to take him by surprise.
President Bush is too deeply tied to implementing his father’s New World Order to see clearly the path ahead. It is time to recognize that globalism is fraught with deadly peril for this nation, and for the entire world if we do not change our guiding philosophy. If you jettison the baggage of an attempt to implement a New World Order, you can see clearly the path that lies ahead.
Follow the funding of this Terror War, all roads lead to the Oil Princes. Neither bin Laden nor Arafat has the wherewithal to conduct their war without help. Inconvenient as it may be, as the administration cracks down on the financing of terror the various paper trails led to the Saudi’s. The Oil Princes are in this up to their eyes. It is time for the President to stop trying to preserve the oil leg of his decentralized NWO and to realize that this war is deadly earnest.
President Bush should immediately announce the following to demonstrate his complete and unflinching resolve to solve the Middle East problems and to end this Terror War with an American victory.
A private “come to Allah” meeting between VP Cheney and the Oil Princes. He should deliver a strong and forceful denunciation of their role in the Terror War and their impoverishment of their own people as well as others in the Middle East.
A public declaration of an U.S. position for a free and independent Palestinian State, but for the ouster of Arafat and the labeling of him and his associates as terrorist.
A declaration of secure Israeli borders.
A public declaration of Saudi complicity in terror and either a verified Saudi renunciation of terror, and terrorist like Arafat and bin Laden, or a clear and unambiguous labeling of the Oil Princes as being with the terrorist.
The ANWR oil fields will be fully utilized to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil and to undo the harm that such dependence does to an America first foreign policy.
The withdrawal of U.S. forces from Bosnia, Kosovo and the Balkans, and the hand-off of this “problem” to the Europeans.
The closing of U.S. borders with a sufficient and armed border patrol, and the protecting of the Alaskan pipeline.
A declaration of the U.S. borders as a part of the Terror War, President Vicente Fox fix your own problems do not send them north.
During the gathering storm leading up to World War Two, French Foreign Minister Pierre Flandin spoke to the British “ The whole world and especially the small nations today turn their eyes towards England. If England will act now, she can lead...You will have a policy, all the world will follow you, and thus you will prevent war. It is your last chance.”
The time has come once again Mr. President to think of America first. Yes we must win this war, but we must also correct our meddling errors of the past. This can only be accomplished with a clear-eyed view of the Arab world, their need for fair treatment for the Palestinians, but also the clear evil that leads them today. Arab leadership must change and such change includes the complete and public renunciation of their part in the Terror War and the unconditional assurance of a secure Israel.
Globalism is dead, or it will kill many more. It is time for America first; we have no time left.
