Homeland Defense: Whose home is this anyway?
By Glenn R. Jackson
You awaken to discover that there is someone living in your basement. And not just one, but a multitude of strangers are living quite comfortably in the basement of your home. As shocking as that discovery is, it is nothing compared to the realization that another group of people are coming and going freely through your home’s attic entry. What is going on here?
The authorities are not any help. They seem to be concerned about the most insane things. The authorities want to know whether you have enough medical insurance to cover the individuals should they get sick or injured while they are in your home. They ask when you can provide a covered area in your front yard for your house “guest” to stand out of the weather as they wait for rides to work.
Well, actually the authorities want to know what you might do to help your “guest” receive a driver’s license so they can drive themselves to work. Of course the authorities say, all those cars will prove something of a parking problem and they would like to know what you intend to do about that?
And all you want to know is, whose home is this anyway?
Now there is not one of us that would put up with that series of events for one second in our home. Yet, as a nation we have allowed this situation to go on for years and years. The business elites promote open borders and weak immigration control; because they seek cheaper labor and a new group of consumers to drive purchasing, and hence to drive profits. Profits drive stock prices, and stock prices lull a large segment of the population to sleep
The political elites are no better. As the poor performance of these politicians have frustrated more and more American voters to the point where half do not vote. Courting bloc voting by “special interest” groups has become the new “thinking” on election victories. As every politician knows winning the election and promoting your party is the number one duty a politician owes the electorate.
Homeland Defense begins at the border, for without defined borders the whole idea of a homeland is ludicrous. Yet today, 45 days after this nation was attacked on it’s own soil, the borders remain open. Forty-five days after the first attack on the mainland United States since the War of 1812, our borders are as porous as they were on the morning of September 11th. Our leadership continues to strive mightily to avoid the obvious and to pursue the perception of action.
If you were a well-funded foreign power in a determined war on the United States what strategy would you employ? Would you seek a direct frontal attack on the world’s last super power? Or would you follow the successful strategy of the drug cartel and attack through the soft underbelly of the United States? If you want to smuggle anything into this country, from people to bio-weapons the drug cartels have paved the way.
In Panama you have Hutchison Whampoa Ltd., a Chinese shipping company, with proven ties to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of communist China, in control of both the Pacific and Atlantic port facilities of the Canal. From Panama north you have a well-worn trail of corruption leading directly to the border of the United States. With the funding available to these Islamic warriors does anyone really believe that money will not grease the wheels of the terrorist war machine?
And what are our leaders doing? Congress grants Attorney General Ashcroft extraordinary powers that are only effective within the borders of the United States. In other words Congress and the Attorney General want the pipeline of free access across our borders to remain open, but they seek to weed out the terrorist on this side of the border.
Absolute insanity.
With an illegal community of migrants, visa violators, and non-student student visa holders, all totaling anywhere from three to eleven million hiding in this country, does “a needle in a hay stack” mean anything? Once a terrorist crosses the border there is a large, self-serving contingent of support in place to provide fifth column assistance, shelter, and needed cover for their activities. This must end. Congress must take immediate action to close and protect the borders of this country, winnow the haystack of the illegal chaff, and by God and the Constitution provide for the common defense. Here are some immediate steps:
· There are nearly 300,000 illegal aliens in this country who have Deportation Orders already issued. These individuals must be found and sent out of the country. Local law-enforcement must be informed of who these people are and must assist in their deportation. Congress and the Executive branch must act immediately to authorize the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to notify local law-enforcement of all information related to these deported individuals.
· Congress and the President must authorize state Governors with common borders to Mexico and Canada to call-up National Guard units to patrol these foreign borders.
· Congress and the President must authorize the rules of engagement on the border to be 1) arrest and detain anyone trying to cross the border illegally 2) return any Mexican or Canadian foreign nationals to their nation’s authorities and detain for questioning any other foreign national 3) return any act of force with force, including deadly force.
· As found on CitizensLobby.com, Congress must pass H.Con.Res. 220, “which affirms the commitment of Congress to preserving the sovereignty of the United States and the integrity of its borders. This concurrent resolution is sponsored by Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Rep. Virgil Goode (I-VA) and Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA), and has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.”
· Until Congress can guarantee the integrity of the student visa system all student visas should be terminated. According to CitizensLobby.com the following bills H.R. 3043, H.R. 3033 & H.R. 3002 “seek to establish a database and tracking system for all foreign students entering the U.S. These bills have been referred to the subcommittee on immigration of the House Judiciary Committee, where they will be reconciled.” They must be acted on immediately.
· Congress must pass and fund the Immigration Reform Act including all recommendations of the U.S. Commission of Immigration Reform.
Without swift and immediate action to back up the claim of Homeland Defense, Congress is playing nothing more than a public relations game. The trust of our leadership is eroding with each new day. When the American people read stories about 14 Syrian student pilots being admitted to the country to go to flight school, weeks after the events of September 11th, only congressional abdication is to blame. How many more Americans need to die?
The Islamic terrorist are comfortably at home in our own country and every day Congress hesitates to act provides aid and comfort to the enemy. They have successfully invaded our country and are killing Americans. Must we wait until they launch an even greater offensive against us? While there are many ways that they can wage war against us, there is only one way for us to defend ourselves. We have to cut out this malignant cancer that plagues our country before its roots tighten and strangle more American lives.
